Abstract :
This paper presents a new size reduction technique for Artificial Magnetic Conductors (AMC) without useful bandwidth degradation. This technique is based on the use of a slotted layer which is placed into the substrate of an AMC structure. Further, this layer allows the tuning of the operation frequency keeping the overall size of the AMC structure. With this technique, the AMC miniaturization preserves the operating frequency band. For example in UHF RFID ETSI band, the miniaturization factor using the AMC structure with square patch lattice is 0.69 in size and 0.46 in surface.
