Abstract :
In order to design the vehicle body structure a method on three-dimensional laser scanning was raised. In this paper three-dimensional scanning point cloud data were obtained on a certain vehicle body panels by using the three-dimensional laser scanner. Then the point cloud data processing was completed detailed including three different stages of point processing, polygon processing and the shape processing. According to the prototype features of vehicle body panels the three-dimensional modeling of parts was built and comprehensive digital information was obtained on each part of the panel. The three-dimensional reconstruction on the body panels was completed, which provides a feasible method for the modern body design.
