Standardization of provisions for ISDN/PSTN interworking of data terminals

The provision for the interworking of terminals on an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) with terminals on existing networks is essential to the evolution of ISDN. The author considers the status of standards for the interworking of data terminals using circuit-mode services. The existing network of primary concern is the public switched telephone network (PSTN). The concepts discussed are equally applicable to scenarios where either or both the ISDN or existing network is private
