Abstract
The author addresses some of the key issues for successful data communications in the ISDN era and focuses on two prime areas, i.e. the understanding and use of ISDN services together with the selection of appropriate terminal apparatus. He highlights and describes some of the main difficulties and discusses scenarios for applications. He points out that these are early days for public ISDN data communications to International standards. The scene is now set for the innovative and flexible provisioning and use of these services. ISDN services together with emerging products and applications, addressing increasingly wider markets, will create benefits and advantages for business users
