Abstract :
The authors summarize interfacial phenomena involved mainly in solid insulating systems. Emphasis is placed on charge injection and accumulation, electrochemical reaction, carrier transport, carrier trapping, mechanical stress, swelling, and streaming electrification. It is pointed out that various kinds of interfacial effects manifest themselves in various ways in affect the electrical properties of composites. The discussion is limited to interfaces inside solids or solid-liquid composites
