The author discusses the progress of a programme which aims to regenerate a rural economy through the introduction of advanced information technology. In the Highlands and Islands of Scotland the use of integrated approach to advanced telecommunications (ISDN, EDI, etc.) and IT is being promoted at a level appropriate to the individual companies
