Abstract :
The Mode S secondary surveillance radar (SSR) is used to provide the aircraft position, plus several other information, like the identity of each aircraft. It implies the active participation of the surveyed aircraft. The experimental data link is designed to show the feasibility and efficiency of such a communication system. This experimental link involves several contractors and various equipment. The aim is to connect these equipment to provide a bit oriented data link, which could be used for several applications, including ATC. The data link trials consist of measuring the subnetwork performance in terms of throughput, transmission delay, and so on
