Abstract
Air- and spaceborne radar (in particular SAR) is of increasing importance for reconnaissance and verification purposes. In conjunction with moving target indicator (MTI) it is well suited for detection of moving objects close to the ground (low flying aircraft, vehicles) because degrading effects such as terrain masking are avoided. The next generation of air- and spaceborne radar will have an active phased array antenna. Array antenna systems include a sensor array and an associated signal processor. Normally the configuration of the sensor array has impact on the design of the antenna processor. By the problem at hand the author demonstrates that occasionally the desired performance of the antenna signal processor may drive the design of the antenna configuration. A number of new results on space-time clutter rejection filters for moving radar are presented. The findings apply to real and synthetic aperture radar with array antenna
