  • Abstract
LARISSA is an experimental radar system, based on the LARA radar, which is being built to study various aspects of low frequency radar signal processing. Components, optimized for rotating antennas as well as for phased array beamforming antennas, are combined to enable a variety of experiments. The main aspects of investigation are jammer suppression and electromagnetic compatibility in the low frequency region. LARISSA is not intended to function as a prototype for a VHF radar, but to allow investigations of critical questions arising from operational constraints. Future activities will be based on optimizing the radar signal with respect to interference and on hardware realization of a digital radar signal processor for Doppler analysis to study clutter and multipath effects and develop efficient clutter suppression methods
