  • Abstract
Multi-Band FIR filters was successfully designed by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) has lower ripple when it is compared to Minimax Approximation. However, PSO may converge into a bad solution, which results in failed design. This paper presents the benefits of initializing PSO with a solution (coefficients) obtained by a Minimax technique. The characteristic of filter, which was designed by this technique, is greatly improved from the Minimax´s solution, without chance to failure. The four band pass are designed by Minimax, PSO and our proposed methods; the result of proposed method is superior to the result of conventional method (Minimax, PSO).
