Abstract
For amorphous nonpolar polymers, a quantitative relation between dielectric constant and free volume was extended from the authors´ (1990) previous model for liquids. An expression of ionic conductivity in terms of free volume was developed based on the Nernst-Einstein equation. Furthermore, the correlation between ionic conductivity and dielectric constant was derived. Experimental results on polystyrene agree well with the theoretical models over a wide range of temperature (-180°C to +140°C)
