Abstract
The improvement of the reliability of supply of a developing country´s power systems may require the development of a new tariff structure unless a substantial subvention is made by their government. Nigeria has been used for the case-study country as an example of a developing power system. The authors investigate the effect of illegal connections of the electricity supply on the economics and reliability of the developing power system. Enugu, a major load centre is used as a case study
