Abstract
In this paper, a new fast intra prediction mode decision based on statistics for AVS-M is put forward. On the foundation of the method, early termination for intra prediction is carried out and computation is substantially reduced. The simulation results of all I-frame coding show that the technique speeds up the encoding process without loss of coding PSNR and bitrate efficiency.
