Abstract :
To supply adjustable speed drives in subsea stations, a current source inverter (CSI) fed cable transmission system is proposed. The conventional frequency analysis using injected current harmonics yields inadmissible high harmonics due to the expected current resonance phenomena. In contrast to this, detailed simulation studies show a significant reduction of the generated current harmonics close to the resonance frequency. Comparing field test measurements confirms both the validity of theoretical investigations and the practical feasibility of the proposed transmission system
