Abstract
In Britain, with the privatisation of the electricity supply industry, there has been an increasing demand for precision meters for measuring large energy consumptions. Solid state electricity meters are being produced by meter manufacturers to meet the requirements of IEC 687 for class 0.2S and class 0.5S. Such requirements have placed increasing demands on laboratories measurement capabilities. The authors describe a measurement system adopted by the Office of Electricity Regulation (OFFER) which is the organisation responsible for carrying out type approval of electricity meters in the UK
