Abstract :
The dynamic modeling of a variable speed wind turbine system has been discussed in this paper. The power quality issues of a stand alone wind turbine based power system, connected to a weak grid, have been investigated. The dynamic analysis has been carried out for various system disturbances like fluctuating wind speed, variation in load demand and effect of different X/R ratios on the system voltage variation. The voltage fluctuations are more if the X/R ratio in the system is low
