  • Abstract
    This paper describes tests of detector electronics for a prototype optical pick-up designed to be used in a hyper CD drive with Terabyte storage capacity. The requirements for testing detectors and the experimental setup are discussed in details. As a detector a PIN Quadrant will be used. The characteristics of Quadrant detector such as bandwidth and noise will be analyzed and compared with the best results in data storage industry. The goal is to select an appropriate Quadrant for detecting a fluorescence laser pulse from recorded medium. Using a digital oscilloscope and a spectrum analyzer it is possible to study the characteristics of detector electronics.
