Abstract :
A new generation of meters is now being offered, using state of the art microprocessors which are able to perform the basic task to a high standard and provide many additional functions, allowing a highly integrated system to be implemented. The reduction of components used in the manufacture of a digital meter leads to higher reliability and greater confidence in the product. By realising the full potential of such devices and employing the latest developments and production aids, cost effective intelligent metering and communications are now available.
