Abstract :
The application of piezoelectrically driven scanners to small angle pointing requirements is considered. The basic piezoelectric mechanisms are discussed, the characteristics of a number of devices built by the Sensors and Instrumentation Division of the Marconi Research Centre are briefly described, and outline designs suitable for the fine pointing mechanism in the acquisition and tracking system, and for the point ahead assembly are considered
