  • Abstract
The plasma state parameters of a nanosecond-discharge channel in a solid dielectric were evaluated using a technique based on the investigation of plasma flow from the nanosecond discharge channel in air, when the plasma is ejected directly from the channel, not from the intermediate volume. The results obtained indicate that high temperatures substantially exceeding the first ionization potential are achieved at the propagation stage in the front part of the discharge channel. This phenomenon is of interest for understanding the experimentally observed principles of breakdown in condensed dielectrics
