Abstract
A robust variable structure system control is utilized to design the fault ride-through supplementary control of a wind turbine with a doubly-fed induction generator. Two control objectives are considered: (1) maximization of the wind energy conversion, and (2) terminal voltage regulation of the wind turbine. The major advantage of the proposed FRT control is that this VSS control can regulate the voltage injections of the rotor side converter to control the slip and the stator terminal voltage to their control settings. Simulations on a two-area four-machine system are performed to verify dynamical characteristics of the proposed control method. Performance comparisons among several existing fault ride-through enhanced control will also be examined.
