Abstract :
This paper highlights control parameters that, if not used optimally, can cause degradation of SSCOP protocol throughput. To fine tune these parameters and hence decrease protocol performance bottlenecks, various factors were analyzed. The theoretical factors that influence the performance of the SSCOP protocol are discussed. The relationships between key protocol parameters (protocol window, control message transmission interval) and maximum achievable throughput efficiency were taken from current research literature. Known mathematical equations can be used to determine how much buffer capacity and/or what protocol timer settings allow SSCOP to operate at high performance. The analytical results are confirmed by comparison with observational results and the resultant graphs have been plotted. To get better protocol performance, potential solutions that take into account key control parameters have been proposed
