Abstract :
An investigation was made of the dielectric behaviour of polyvinylidene fluoride impregnated with polar liquids that possess high dielectric constants, such as propylene carbonate and sulfolane. The dielectric constants of the film were increased substantially, compared with those of the film without impregnation. The same effect was observed for the dissipation factor of the film at lower frequencies. However, the dissipation factors were actually lower at frequencies higher than 100 kHz. The results were compared with those calculated from the ideal mixing law. The dielectric strength of the film, with and without polar liquids, was also investigated
