Abstract
Passive RFID is a promising technology for products tracking in logistics. However, the UHF RFID tag is greatly affected by backside goods especially metallic object. This paper describes the design of a dipole antenna with Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) for RFID tag, so that the tag could still work on metallic surface. The design of EBG material for UHF RFID is operated at 922 MHz and its reflection phase has an effect on the antenna characteristic.
