Abstract
A matrix method is outlined which is a simple and general method of analysis for semiconductor laser amplifiers. When applied to twin-guide amplifier (TGA) structures it allows the effects of feedback from low reflectivity facets to be calculated and thus enables the wavelength sensitivity of the gain and crosstalk to be quantitatively evaluated
