Abstract :
The authors demonstrate the use of state-space analysis to find the steady-state operation of a ferroresonant circuit. The state of the circuit is represented as a point in a three-dimensional state space, and the circuit operation is represented as motion in that space. A piecewise-linear model of the ferroresonant circuit operating in a typical high-frequency application is developed, and the process of constructing a steady-state trajectory using that model is described. Computed and experimental waveforms are compared. The piecewise-linear model and the construction of steady-state trajectories are used to study the range of input and output conditions over which a particular ferroresonant circuit can operate. The predicted regulation data is compared to experimental results
