Abstract
In order to evaluate the performance of a digital communications system, the communications engineer very often has to resort to simulation as analytical techniques are unavailable. Further, if the transmission channel over which the digital communications link is required to operate contains several forms of channel disturbance and corruption, then simulation itself becomes difficult as the computational task demanded escalates. The authors address this problem, and describe through example, how such a compound channel may be simulated by exploiting multiple transputers, together with appropriate digital signal processing techniques
