Abstract :
Efforts towards the achievement of online removal of ocular artefacts (OAs) from a number of electroencephalograms (EEGs) utilising transputers are described. The EEG is used in clinical and psychological practice, but is often contaminated by OAs caused by ocular movements of the eyeball, and eyelids etc. It is therefore necessary to remove the OAs from the EEG so that the true EEG can be analysed. A Motorola 68000 based instrument for the online removal of OAs is described. A limitation of that instrument is that it can only remove OAs simultaneously from a maximum of four EEG channels within one sampling interval. Inherent parallelism in the OAR procedure suggests that time constraint might be overcome by using transputers. The method of least squares is also necessary for OAR
