Abstract
A new high-energy nickel-cadmium battery has been developed with a fast charge capability. The concept is based on a plastic bonded negative electrode with high charging efficiency using nickel hydroxide or hydroxyethyl cellulose, an oxidation-resistant separator, and a new cell design capable of detecting the abrupt rise in charging voltage derived from the negative electrode similar to the valve regulated lead-acid battery. An outline of these technologies is presented
