Abstract
An Adaptive Digital PID (AD-PID) controller scheme is presented in this paper in order to improve the dynamic performance of power converters. The controller adaptively adjusts the integral constant (Ki) and the proportional constant (Kp) based on the amount of change in the error signal caused by the load transient and following a control law. The AD-PID controller results in dynamic output voltage deviation reduction and in shorter settling time. The AD-PID controller concept and architecture and its proposed control law are presented in this paper and verified by experimental results obtained from a proof-of-concept experimental prototype.
