  • Abstract
An emergency package air cooler, called STL-PAC, a backup installation for use when the air conditioner in normal service fails to work due to such causes as a power stoppage or equipment trouble, is introduced. The STL-PAC has the heat storage tank, refrigerator, fan coil, pumps and all other components integrated into a single unit. Although it is a compact installation only 90 cm in width, 90 cm in depth and 250 cm in height, the device has a cooling capacity of 7500 kcal/h×3 h. The freezing and melting points of its heat storage medium, a phase change material, can be selected from temperatures ranging from -21°C to +64°C, depending on the desired operating temperature. The STL-PAC has been verified by a series of tests to have satisfactory capabilities
