Abstract
Remote sensed images provide useful information of the atmosphere. The aim of this study is to introduce the temperature profile of the atmosphere from Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), and compare it with the Thermodynamic Initial Guess Retrieval (TIGR) data set, the atmospheric temperature profile from Second Simulation of the Satellite Signal in the Solar Spectrum (6S), and the U.S. standard atmosphere in 1962 (US62). The result illustrates the capability of remote sensed images in atmospheric temperature profile retrieval, which is important when there is no previous information or sample data set of atmospheric temperature available. However, the comparison also indicates that the validity of atmospheric temperature profile needs to be improved much more.
