Abstract :
The author addresses some of the major implications of the CCITT X.400 1988 recommendations on the procurement of message handling systems for the military. He gives an overview of the facilities of X.400(88), analyses the civil facilities from the military view points and illustrates by using X.400 as an example, how civil standards can be tailored to meet military requirements
