Abstract :
In this paper, a new non-linear digital control algorithm is proposed for Boost DC-DC converters to achieve excellent dynamic performance which cannot be obtained by using conventional linear control method for its bandwidth limitations. Using the concept of capacitor charge balance, the proposed algorithm predicts an improved transient response for a Boost DC-DC converter during the large signal load-current step change. The equations used to calculate the improved transient time and the improved duty cycle series are presented. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method produces excellent transient performance, including the small output voltage overshoot/undershoot and the short recovery time, which is much superior over that of a conventional voltage mode controller.
