  • Abstract
A survey of current European programs for digital cellular communications is presented. These programs are organized in national and international projects. Second-generation digital mobile phones will exist at 900 MHz (GSM), 1800 MHz (PCN, DCS, etc.) in 1993, and 2 GHz and above (UMTS) in 1998. There is also a broadband mobile service at 60 GHz projected for the end of the century. Details are presented and discussed for each system and projected market.<>
