Abstract
The use of frequency agile transmitters is considered advantageous in two different contexts; namely frequency hopping to combat fading in digital cellular mobile radio systems and dynamic channel frequency assignments to increase efficiency in analogue systems. With the advent of low cost synthesized sources, it is believed that only the transmitter combiner needs to be reconfigured to conform with the rapid frequency change of the transmitter. Thus electronic tuning offers the best prospect for a reliable frequency change of the transmitter. Thus electronic tuning offers the best prospect for a reliable dynamical system. A recent report showed the feasibility of electronically tuning of high Q cavity resonator using PIN diode and varactor diodes. The performance of the cavity is shown. A switching bandwidth of 2.5 MHz was obtained and the lowest unloaded Q of the cavity resonator was measured at 13300
