Abstract :
The problems of river basin management have changed significantly in the twenty years since 1970. One issue in particular is that of controlling stormwater overflows from sewer networks. Although transient stormwater events are not the only reason for the development of control applications in managing river water quality, the investigation of the means of attenuating their impact-both on the treatment plant and the river-have led one to conclude that there is considerably greater scope for achieving success than might previously have been assumed
