Abstract :
The author looks at FDDI (fibre distributed data interface), its relationship to open systems, local and wide area networks and the expected user benefits FDDI will deliver. The early implementation of FDDI is discussed together with what products can be expected within the next 12 months. Finally, advice is given on what should be done now to prepare for FDDI and the pitfalls to be avoided
