Abstract :
Describes the properties of a class of biquadratic active RF and IF filter circuits designed specifically for integration on a high speed bipolar integrated circuit process. Predictions include filters operational up to 1.7 GHz, and loaded Q values of over 1000 at 150 MHz. The application for filters of this type is in radio, specifically hand-portable radio sets such as those used in cellular and cordless telephones and private mobile radio. Monolithic integration of the filters will lead to total integration in silicon of the whole of the radio set, with very few external connections. Although this goal is some way off, simulations and limited experimental results on a 150 MHz breadboard are reported
