Abstract :
The authors have successfully stabilized an erbium-doped fiber loop laser with an improvement of more than two orders of magnitude by incorporating a WGM microresonator. Microspheres with Q-values of 108 inside a lasing cavity can allow linewidths on the order of hundreds of kHz. The exact values will be determined using heterodyne beating with an external laser, as well as self-heterodyne beating using a long fiber-spool.
