Abstract :
This paper presents a method of fault polygon extraction and smoothing. It uses boundary tracking algorithm to extract breakpoint locations to form polygon file, and uses parameters of angles between fault polygonal lines as well as edge length and so on to do the work of smoothing, on condition that it keeps its original shape. This method improves the visual effect and aesthetic extent and offers a better way for seismic data interpretation. Based on seismic image validation in many areas by Daqing Oilfield, this method can effectively extract fault polygons and deburr, having a very significant effect on smoothing.
