Abstract :
Automatic recognition of speech by machine for inferior to that of most humans. However there are applications such as `hands-free´ car telephone dialling, and aircraft cockpit instrument selection, where the benefits provided by current technology justify the use of real-time systems. This paper describes the implementation of a real-time recogniser, constructed as part of an ESPRIT II project entitled Adverse-Environment Recognition of Speech. Details are given of implementation issues, and solutions chosen
