Abstract :
The Kalman filter is suited to radar target tracking but places a high numerical workload on Radar Data Processors (RDP). Using a Motorola 56000 DSP as a Kalman filter coprocessor frees RDP time for other tasks. Computing power is increased and more sophisticated tracking algorithms than hitherto possible can be run in real time
