  • Abstract
    Technology for access and storage of unstructured information is discussed. The author looks at various text input methods including OCR and ICR and image processing techniques-image compression standards are outlined. Translation of an image into a WP document is considered. Imaging systems can be classified as: electronic filing cabinet, integrate with other data and integrate into business. The 2 main methods for supporting images inside a database are given. Various specific multi-media databases for handling unstructured text, image and voice data are discussed and developments in this area are identified
