Abstract
We compute an upper bound for the capacity of mobile wireless ad hoc networks (MANETs) when all the nodes in the network are endowed with multiple antennas. The derivation is based on a new communication scheme for wireless ad hoc networks utilizing the concept of cooperative many-to-many communication, which we show outperforms the conventional one-to-one communication approach. We assume that nodes transmit with low power, such that the total interference from other cells is much smaller than noise. Consequently, the results for the upper bound capacity is only valid for the low interference power regime.
