  • Abstract
The case is made that to produce high-integrity documentation, it must be engineered and developed with the same rigor as the product. The ideal way to achieve this is through an integrated development process where the product and its documentation are developed concurrently in a single integrated process. The author identifies and defines the generic development process, noting the major similarities between the design process in various disciplines. On the basis of the intrinsic similarity between the product development process and the information development process, he offers the concept of the integrated product and information development process. This integration yields a single powerful development process with many benefits for the product, including the documentation and information components. The integrity mechanisms are overlaid on the integrated process
