Abstract
Nursing, one of the most numerous of the professional groups in the health care industry, is awakening to the fact that computers have an impact on the profession itself, on patients, and on health care facilities. From all the following presentations, we will see that the role of nursing in the planning, analysis, development, implementation, and management of a computerized information system for a health care facility is continually expanding. Nurses are meeting the challenge. They need to be and indeed they are becoming indispensable to the creation and design of the life cycle of computerized nursing information systems.
