  • Abstract
With the introduction of the concept of the coverage rate and frequency of section in traffic method, the typical public traffic routes are selected. Investigations are carried out on bus lines and actual operation data are collected. The principal composition analysis and clustering theory are used to construct a driving cycle in this paper. The research shows that it is a feasible method to using principal composition analysis to compress kinematic sequence characteristics which can reflect the characteristics of road traffic , and the kinematic sequence characteristics can be compressed into three or four common factors which represent for over 80% of the raw data . Then clustering theory are used to extracte these kinematic sequences . By randomly selecting and combining these sequences according to statistical probability, the typical public routes are taken as the subject of study, and the driving cycle based on actual bus speed is analysised and concluded. The driving cycle can also reflect typical public routes.
