  • Abstract
    The computer simulation of a PSK receiver is described. Simulation models of the receiver are developed and the BER is estimated using a mixed-semianalytical simulation approach. Only 4096 bits are required to give BER estimations within 1dB of the theoretical calculations. This number is very small when compared with what is required in pure simulation techniques. Very efficient simulations of coherent optical systems in terms of computation time and the memory requirements can be obtained using this approach
