Abstract :
A driver´s intention may be affected by a number of sources such as the driver´s current control actions, their visual scanning behavior, and the traffic environment. In this paper, research interest is focused on the driver´s starting intentions of a passenger car equipped with Automatic Mechanical Transmission (AMT) or Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). It is found that basically, the driver´s kinesthetic sense is the acceleration, but not the speed. Therefore, a dynamic model for the driveline is proposed according to engine test data and vehicle general parameters in order to analyze the influence of the pedal opening, the first and the second derivatives on the starting intentions. The orthogonal test design is applied to treat the variables and their combinations for the driver decision making in the launching. It is demonstrated by the numerical results that sequences of the factors have different effects on starting intentions, but the effects of interaction of the factors can be ignored.
